Here at Beauty Bar, we are OBSESSED with the instant gratification of hair extensions. In just a few short hours, you can have fuller and thicker hair! But what kind is right for you? How much do they cost? What's the maintenance? This blog post will answer all your questions! So let's dive right in!

Tape- In Extensions

  • Application time of less than 90 minutes, this is the fastest method for applying hair extensions.

  • Easy to apply as no heat or other tools are required.

  • Minimal damage to the natural hair.

  • Reduces strain on your head as the extensions are spread over large areas of the head.

  • Lend a natural look to your tresses as they lay flat against your head.

  • Extensions can be reused 3 times before needing replaced.

The Cons

  • The adhesive tape needs time to cure for 24-48 hours, so you can not wash your hair or undertake any strenuous activities that can cause you to sweat.

  • You can not apply any silicone based products or oil to your hair as they may cause the extensions to slip down.

  • Not recommended for swimmers.

  • Hair cannot be comfortably tied up for the first 1-2 weeks.

The Maintenance

  • Must use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Drug store products will damage the extensions.

  • A move up appointment should be every 6-12 weeks, depending on the hair growth.

Micro Bead Extensions

The Pros

  • Extensions are installed by having small silicon beads threaded to small sections of your own hair. The stylists will then clamp each piece to have it stay in place.

  • Good for most type of hair, except extremely slick hair because of the chance of slippage.

  • More versatile when styling.

The Cons

  • Not ideal for clients with super fine or slippery hair.

  • Avoid oils or slick products near the scalp.

  • They are hard to sleep on as you can feel the beads on your head.

  • Application can take up to 4 hours.

The Pros

  • You can apply oil or silicone styling products to your hair.

  • Can last for 2-3 months if maintained properly.

  • Virtually invisible, which makes it look super natural.

  • Recommended for people with shoulder length or longer hair.

  • Adds tons of volume

  • Extensions can be reused for 12-24 months.

The Cons

  • Hair takes a long time to dry and style.

  • The extensions can weigh down and cause headaches for the first day or two.
